making a box, and the other is the DESKtop utility.

<img using no processing power, until you right click and restore the window.

Echo Physics Engine Test Released

Hi Reader(s),

This is The Physics Engine that games will use when made with Echo, within Echo, the user can apply force to an object when something happens, pull it down, make it static or dynamic, all based on events and scripting, The mass and friction within this demo represent the closest it can get to real world physics, all these settings can be changed and customized in the editor, as well as a few preset ones for ease of use. This Engine is a result of many weeks of Work and through 4 builds through my beta tester. The Readme is enclosed, i recommend you read it first, it shows updates and controls.

You can download it here

Introduction

Hi readers.
Just to tell you what this is about, over the coming months i will be developing a level editing and game creation suite called Echo. Heres the lowdown:

I thought i'd give you lot the first low down on echo, echo is primarily a level editor but can be used as a full game making software!
With advanced level creation features, as well as entity management and scripting engine

Echo™ Level Editor

The level editor has gone through many stages, from just being a place to mess around with physics to a full level editing software,
current features include:
• Full Rigid Body Physics
• Full Lightmapping
• Event Triggers
• Placemarks for particles, 3d sounds, lights and models.
• Shader Effects

Planned so far:
• Customizing the lighting, such as shadow blurring, shadow colour and shadow density
• Event Scripting
• Vehicle Physics
• Water Physics
• Rope Physics
• Compile Game Within editor (no reason to export to DBPro)

Once you have created you level with events, you can export the entities and events to dbpro code, while exporting your level with lightmaps to .DBO or .X.
Or leave them compiled in Echo.

Echo™ Entity Manager

The Entity Manager has full control over the objects that are going into ELE, (pronounced Elly) within this software you define how it is affected in the ELE world, gravity, bouyancy, mass and friction values are all defined in here, they can then be exported to .EE (EchoEntity) for import into ELE
, or they can skip the process and move directly into ELE through Echo™ DESKtop.
Scripting includes many features such as if the player shoots the object, walks into it, or picks it up the object reacts in a certain way. For example, if the player shoots the object, then, explode, the same with if the player walks into it, or uses it. This way the possibilities are endless.

Echo™ Entitiy Manager contains:
• Entity Property editor
• Model Editor
• Lightmapping individual models
• Scripting

Echo™ DESKtop

Echo™ DESKtop is the glue that holds the Echo™ suite together, this software links together all the different software together so they work together. Export models from the Entity Manger straight into ELE without having to export, then reimport, saving lots of time, the DESKtop it has the ability to open any Echo™ Software as well as view images and media.

Echo IDE

Echo IDE is the small Scripting utility. You don't have to load up the main level editing software to do a bit of scripting, you can instead open this up and script away, the way it works is:
First, you load your model up inside it, there are two options, view the model, view the model in a game environment or the scripting mode.
First off, the model view lets you view the model, rotate around and add different lighting situations. Viewing the model in the game environment places you in an FPS game with you model in a large room, you can grab your object, and see how it works in game (properties have had to be edited in Entity manager beforehand). The Scripting section lets you edit the current script for that model, when finished, go back to the game environment and test out the new script in the game environment, if you like what you see, export the script file out and get it into your game environment in ELE.

Full Software list (italics means they definately will be included)

-Echo Suite Free-
Echo Level Editor
Echo IDE
Echo Project Manager

-Echo Suite plus+-
Echo Level Editor +
Echo Entity Manager
Echo IDE
Echo DESKtop
Echo Particles

-Echo 2D-
Echo 2D
Echo 2D Entity Manager
Echo 2D IDE
Echo GUI

As you can see most of it is for definate and the only things i will save till last is the 2d game editor, Echo GUI will be there so you can create User Interfaces for your games.

Thats All for now, look out for the first of many in a week or so time.

-Beam me up Scotty
